White cocotte from Staub
When my friend Morgan of BURU – a fabulous online clothing boutique for fashion forward mammas – asked me to share a little about my husband for Father’s Day for her online magazine, I couldn’t help but think back to this adorable photo shoot we did with Gray Benko last year. These photos really captured the essence of my husband John and daughter Daphne’s silly and loving relationship. In honor of Father’s Day I shared a little more about Daphne’s special Daddy as well put together a great little Father’s Day gift guide for all the moms out there… Head on over to the BURU blog today and check it out!
And thanks again to Gray for these photos we will treasure forever – they really captured a special moment in time and the very brief moment our poodle, Birthday, was actually small!
With summer on the way it seems like the right time to start thinking about incorporating white back into our wardrobes. White in the summer – especially in the South – is a no-brainer. While I love the vintagey opal stones I chose for our Breastplate Necklace we also thought it would look great for summer set with milky, white glass stones. I showed this to Grace Atwood, the girl behind my online style/DIY and all things fun blog, The Stripe and she fell in love. Grace was kind enough to post about our recent New York trunk show so I gave her one of my new, white Breastplate necklaces as a thank you I love how she incorporated it into her whimsical Cinco de Mayo look:
And if you check out her full post on The Stripe you’ll see that she also has a new recommendation for a delicious sounding West Village taco spot to go with it. And what’s better than an outdoor taco spot when the weather warms up? Our breastplate necklace, now available in white, will also be available soon in turquoise for summer wear:
Thank you to Southern Living and Stephanie Granada for including me in this feature on the 50 Best Dressed Southerners. It really is an honor, there are some snazzy folks in the South! And as some of you know, Charleston is not my native land. Moving here nearly eight years ago from New York I wondered if I would have to relegate all my black clothes to boxes under the bed. Friends teased me that I would soon have a closet full of Lilly Pullitzer (I have one dress) and the long summer season here threatened to render 2/3 of my wardrobe null and void. But as I’ve eased into life in Charleston, I’ve also eased into my new 2.0 style. Lighter layers, slightly more feminine, but still a love for some edgy details (like my strappy Jerome Rousseau boots from HAMPDEN Clothing). Read the full piece here.

I am excited to announce I’ve collaborated with Garden & Gun Magazine to curate a special, online trunk show of one-of-a-kind vintage pieces. We’ve selected pieces that had an interesting history, were collected in the South or emulated the magazine’s deep appreciation of Southern sport and culture.
All pieces are available for purchase online on candyshopvintage.com through February 28th. You can read more about the collaboration and learn about upcoming Candy Shop Vintage trunk shows on their blog today. Enjoy!
This week we were featured on Megan Runion’s blog, “For All Things Lovely“…and how lovely it was! Megan is a fellow South Carolinian with delicately feminine style. She styled the Shiny Gold Charleston Rice Bead Necklace by knotting it together with her own pearls, and we are really digging this look. The two long strands are the perfect match. Thanks for the share, Megan!

I was so thrilled to have Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes in Charleston a a couple weeks ago for my trunk show at HAMPDEN CLOTHING. I normally hassle my husband (JAZ) to DJ all my events and he is great but to have a fellow vintage lover AND stylish lady DJ to mix things up was just too perfect. I gave her some Charleston Rice Beads as a souvenir to take back to Dallas and she styled them with this enviable vintage tweed jacket and layers of vintage gold jewelry on her blog last week. This look is simply perfection – trophy wife meets young city girl combined with 80’s supermodel!

I am thrilled to be hosting my first trunk show with HAMPDEN Clothing in Charleston, this Thursday November 6 from 6-8PM at their flagship 314 King Street store. HAMPDEN is one of my favorite boutiques in Charleston and has been carrying pieces from my Candy Shop Collection of original designs since the beginning. We even have special guest Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes coming all the way from Dallas to DJ the event.
There will be one-of-a-kind vintage pieces available as well as our Candy Shop Collection, including pieces from our brand new Far East Collection which I am just thrilled with. Here’s a little peek at those new styles:
and a glimpse at some of the vintage gems I will be bringing along:
So grateful to Jane for agreeing to be our girl behind the turntables for the evening – we need more female DJ’s in Charleston! Last year, she was photographed for the Coveteur wearing our Elephants On Parade Necklace – just gorgeous! i just love her style and her appreciation of vintage.
If you noticed these chocolate bar save-the-dates on our instagram but did not receieve one, don’t worry – this event is open to the public! We just sent out a few to get the sugar buzz going but everyone is welcome so come join me and HAMPDEN clothing for a great party Thursday evening in Charleston!
My husband and I were included in a fun shoot for southernliving.com this week where we talked about what we thought Southern Style is… Now I’m not a native Southerner but I’ve found style in the Southeast to be whimsical, fun and always unique. I think my own style has evolved to reflect this, hence the great flared cat skirt I found at Hampden Clothing on King Street worn with a sheer, pearl detailed top, a vintage bag, Loeffler Randall snakeskin heels from James (Hampden’s sister store) and turquoise Charleston Rice Beads. RIP to my Zara sunglasses that were sat on shortly after this shoot, at least they got their moment to shine:
Love this photo of John and I. By the way, all these photos are outtakes from Look. Linger. Love. Chassity Evans did a great job curating the Charleston segment with her photographer and friend Gray Benko. Check out the rest of here!
